Darlene 02:21
He Comes home smelling of honeysuckle rose, I know that’s you Darlene. The tuneful notes in his speaking voice, I know that’s you Darlene. Skin Like cream and eyes like night, what’s a woman supposed to do? I can’t fight that kind of light, shoot Darlene I love you too. I’ve been watching you my sweet Darlene, it all comes so easy to you. Even your meatloaf, sweet lord, makes you wanna slap your Momma too. Skin Like cream and eyes like night, what’s a woman supposed to do? I can’t fight that kind of light, shoot Darlene I love you too. I heard you had some trouble out on Main and 22. She thought you took her man just like Jolene because you can. But I know you my sweet Darlene, you’d never go that far. You just shine your light on everyone and are hearts feel like the sun. Skin Like cream and eyes like night, what’s a woman supposed to do? I can’t fight that kind of light, shoot Darlene I love you too.

Fireflies 03:05
A flash of lightning on my soul, like fireflies in the night That old feeling comes to life on our hearts, it’s been a while And I know we’ve never come this far before Speaking words our hearts have never felt so sure Time’s been with us, ticking by, waiting for the love to strike Heard the chimes of a lonely heart telling us it’s time to start And I know we’ve never come this far before Speaking words our hearts have never felt so sure Travelled down a different road leading us to where we stand Face to face, hand in hand, through the storm to the rainbow’s end A flash of lightning on my soul, like fireflies in the night And I know we’ve never come this far before Speaking words our hearts have never felt so sure

I’m heading down to San Francisco To feel the breeze on my dreams come by I stop and smile at the kids as they go On my way to San Francisco And I know that old song And I know it’s been too long For this old heart, it’s feeling low This old heart My San Francisco My San Francisco These days are feeling long These days, my heart it can’t always sing along So you’re calling me home You’re calling me home My San Francisco My San Francisco And I know that old song And I know it’s been too long For this old heart, it’s feeling low This old heart My San Francisco My San Francisco

Don’t tell me you don’t want me Don’t tell me I’m no good Don’t tell me you’ve been feeling this for longer than you should Don’t say that you don’t need me Don’t say that you’re not sure Don’t say I never make you smile anymore I can’t be a different woman My heart is absolute So if you’re gonna walk away from me Please take the kindest route I know that you have travelled the world and all its sights But I have journeyed deeper into love felt so alive So don’t say you need adventure Don’t say you need new love Don’t say the kids are stopping you from living I can’t be a different woman My heart is absolute So if you’re gonna walk away from me Please take the kindest route I can’t be a different woman My heart is absolute So if you’re gonna walk away from me Please take the kindest route I have sat and I have listened To what you never say I’ve seen you hide behind distraction Never look my way I can’t be a different woman My heart is absolute So if you’re gonna walk away from me Please take the kindest route I can’t be a different woman My heart is absolute So if you’re gonna walk away from me Please take the kindest route

Tennessee 03:04
Upon the ridge past the liquor store She’s taking care of business One day at a time That’s her She came from Minnesota where the wind blows cold Now she’s drinking soda in the midday sun Praise be That’s Tennessee And she always heard that whistle blowing Calling Tennessee Yes she always heard that whistle blowing Down to Tennessee She built a little home where the kids could grow Raising them on sweet songs and love in their hearts That’s her Sitting on the porch with the friends she’s made The kids are making money selling lemonade Praise be That’s Tennessee And she always heard that whistle blowing Calling Tennessee Yes she always heard that whistle blowing Down to Tennessee She never thought that she’d come this far She wrote her own story amongst the stars She never thought that she’d come this far She wrote her own story amongst the stars Upon the ridge past the liquor store She’s taking care of business One day at a time That’s her She came from Minnesota where the wind blows cold Now she’s drinking soda in the midday sun Praise be That’s Tennessee And she always heard that whistle blowing Calling Tennessee Yes she always heard that whistle blowing Praise be it’s Tennessee

Baby 03:42
Baby, you got me thinking How it would feel To hold your hand Baby, you got me feeling Like a child caught out in the rain When I hear you call my name Baby, you got me praying For a moment with you A moment to capture your heart And baby, I’m down on my knees Begging you please Begging you please to be mine Now I don’t recall you saying you want to be mine And I’m begging you please, begging you please to be mine Just say that you’re mine Just say that you’re mine Baby, time keeps dragging on You and I have known for too long That this dance will end with this song Baby, my heart is gonna bleed When it senses you’re hear Senses you’re near to me And Baby I don’t recall When you gave me that sign Saying you want to be mine Baby I’m down on my knees Begging you please Begging you please to be mine Now I don’t recall you saying you want to be mine And I’m down on my knees, begging you please to be mine And I’m begging you darling I’m begging you please to be mine Just say that you’re mine Just say that you’re mine Baby, you got me feeling Like a child caught out in the rain When I hear you call my name

Drowning out the thoughts that you left in my head Laying on the dreams that you left in my bed Feeling in my jacket for the note you wrote Reading all the sins you tried to sugar coat Now you come to me Now you’re asking me To give you one more chance Now you come to me Now you’re asking me To give you one more chance One more chance One more chance One more chance Every time I travel down that open road Your footprints in the dirt are always up ahead So I stay right hear my heart won’t make a move Drinking on a Friday night gets rid of you Now you come to me Now you’re asking me To give you one more chance Now you come to me Now you’re asking me To give you one more chance One more chance One more chance One more chance

about

Taylor & Leigh are brother and sister who play and write original country blues music. This is Taylor & Leigh's first record in two years and was written on a retreat in Nashville USA. In Nashville Taylor & Leigh wrote the album and played around the city’s bars and clubs. Nashville’s influence can be clearly heard on the new songs, while the album retains the strong voice and acoustic sound that fans of Taylor & Leigh have come to love. For the first time, Taylor & Leigh have included a bonus track, San Francisco gets a remix using a groove heavy bass and trip-hop drum beat.

Darlene – Darlene is our take on the story of Jolene. What if Jolene had no intention of stealing anybody’s man? What if she is just a beautiful woman who is kind and giving to everybody around her? She has light that shines bright and everybody loves her for it.

Fireflies – Fireflies was penned whilst sitting on the back porch of our digs on Boscobel St, East Nashville. Whilst we were jamming out a new song we saw the fireflies rise out of the lawn and begin to dance in the darkening night. It was such a beautiful sight we instantly penned the lyrics around this wonderful moment.

San Francisco – Only we could go to Nashville and write about San Francisco! However, whilst sitting in Sky Blue Cafe over their amazing Space Captain breakfast, talk turned to travel. We fell upon the times we had spent in San Francisco and the song was born.

Kindest Route – Kindest Route is a heart breaking song. It’s the tale of someone who’s partner has fallen out of love with them. The protagonist is broken at the inevitability of the break up but pleads for a little kindness in the leaving, pouring out her heart in the most honest and melancholic way.

Tennessee – Tennessee was written after Heather’s visit to a local East Nashville Nail Bar. Heather began talking to the beautician who told her story and why she moved to Nashville. It was such a beautiful and empowering story that Heather had to write it down and turn it into a song, once her nails had dried of course!

Pattie May – This is the story of hope and that things can get better if only you can believe in yourself and listen to the people who love you. Things can get better from a bad relationship, even if you have to wait for the glue to undo.

Baby – Baby is a vocal powerhouse of a song. This song showcases Heather’s vocal strength across a blues back drop. The lead guitar echoes Heather’s voice, to produce a wonderfully stripped-down blues ballad.

One More Chance – An intimate song of lover’s regret and a plea for one more chance. The song was born from an overheard conversation between two people in The 5 Spot bar, East Nashville. They left having never resolved the issue. Written from the wronged person’s perspective, you never find out if she takes him back, leaving the song open-ended.

Be With Me – This is a song offering love over material possessions. The harmonies are close and delicate, echoing the sentiment of the question that the lyrics are asking. It was written after playing the Bluebird Cafe in a late-night session.
